Services
We offer a wide range of services from felling large trees using the latest lowering equipment, large reductions and crown thins to formative pruning, hedging and stump grinding. Here is a list of our services and some basic explanations of what they mean.
- Crown Clean - The removal of dead, dying, damaged or diseased wood from the tree.
- Deadwood- All deadwood will be removed from the crown down to a minimum
Diameter of 1cm.
- Crown Reduction- Normally expressed as a ( %) of the total crown area or branch length, the tree Canopy will be reduced in size by the removal of the ends of branches leaving the tree with a natural and pleasing appearance.
- Crown thinning - Again expressed as a (%) of the total leaf area, small branches are selectively removed to reduce crown density, diseased, rubbing and crossing branches are pruned out, the tree will remain the same size, however much more light will penetrate through the crown.
- Crown lifting - The lower branches are removed or reduced to give more light or a desired height over highways or property. The company complies with the statutory requirements of the Highways Act.
- Formative prune- Young and semi-mature trees are pruned carefully to remove deadwood and any structural defect or weakness that may effect the trees development or present a hazard in later life.
- Removal of sucker/epicormic growth - Unless otherwise agreed this involves the pruning/removal of epicormic shoots around the base of the stem up to the first major fork.
- Felling – This means cutting the tree at the base or carefully removing in Sections using ropes, pulleys and a lowering device, leaving a stump 4-15 cm above ground level. This is not always possible due to objects in trunk, e.g. metal fence post.
- Hedging- Cutting the hedge to an agreed height leaving as level as possible.
- Trimming- Trimming the sides or top of a hedge with a hedge trimmer leaving as level as possible.
- Stump grinding- we have two stump grinders a small manual one that fits through a (31in) gateway and larger Mechanical one that fits through a (36in) gateway. Both grind to depth of 22-30cm below ground. The hole will be reinstated with chips and soil to just above ground level to allow for settlement.
